Job summary

Johnson Lexus of Durham is seeking a Full-Time Automotive Service Technician to join our Service team. You will inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair customer and dealership vehicles with pride in quality workmanship.

We value mechanical and diagnostic skills, attention to detail, and the ability to document work clearly. Lexus or Toyota experience is a plus, but experienced techs from other brands are welcome to apply and grow with our Triangle-area dealership.

Qualifications

• Previous automotive maintenance and repair experience.
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to document work clearly.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training.
• ASE Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicles per orders.
• Diagnose vehicle concerns and perform repairs.
• Inspect for additional maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Communicate findings with Service Advisors.
• Collaborate with Parts Department to obtain parts.
• Document inspections and repairs.
• Follow warranty procedures.
• Road-test vehicles as needed.
• Use manufacturer diagnostic equipment and technical information.
• Participate in training.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment.
• Adhere to safety policies.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Johnson Lexus of Durham, conveniently located in the Southpoint area, is looking for a Full-Time Automotive Service Technician to join our Service team.

We're looking for a skilled, dependable technician who takes pride in quality workmanship and wants to continue developing professionally. Lexus or Toyota experience is a plus, but we're also interested in experienced automotive technicians from other manufacturers who have the technical ability, work ethic, and commitment to quality we're looking for.

What You'll Do

As an Automotive Service Technician, you'll inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair customer and dealership vehicles while delivering the quality and precision our Lexus customers expect.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform maintenance, diagnostic, and repair work accurately and efficiently in accordance with repair orders, dealership standards, and manufacturer procedures.
• Diagnose vehicle concerns and perform necessary repairs.
• Inspect vehicles for additional maintenance needs, safety concerns, and recommended services.
• Communicate promptly with Service Advisors regarding diagnostic findings, additional work needed, parts requirements, and repair status.
• Work collaboratively with the Parts Department to identify and obtain necessary parts.
• Accurately document inspections, diagnostic findings, repairs performed, and service recommendations.
• Follow manufacturer and dealership warranty procedures.
• Road-test vehicles as necessary to verify customer concerns and completed repairs.
• Use manufacturer technical information, service bulletins, diagnostic equipment, and other available resources.
• Participate in required manufacturer and dealership training.
• Protect and properly care for customer and dealership vehicles.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all company safety policies and immediately report accidents, injuries, equipment concerns, or unsafe conditions.
• Perform other duties as needed to support Service Department operations.

Qualified candidates should have:

• Previous automotive maintenance and repair experience.
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills appropriate to experience level.
• The ability to perform repairs efficiently while maintaining high standards for quality and accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• The ability to accurately document work performed and communicate repair findings.
• Basic computer and electronic diagnostic proficiency.
• A dependable, self-motivated approach to work.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a Service team.
• A willingness to participate in ongoing technical and manufacturer training.
• A valid driver's license and driving record acceptable under company standards.

ASE Certification preferred.
Lexus or Toyota experience is preferred, but not required.
