Job summary

Street Volkswagen of Amarillo is seeking an automotive technician to diagnose and repair vehicles in our service center. The ideal candidate will use our automotive computer software and their electrical systems expertise to identify the best solution for each client.

Qualifications

• 3 years of automotive technician experience.
• Proven experience as an Automotive Technician or similar role.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive systems.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing vehicles.
• Familiarity with automotive electrical systems and troubleshooting techniques; ability to use hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical issues to customers.
• ASE certification is strongly desired.
• Automotive service technology training program completion or equivalent years of experience; associates degree is a bonus.
• High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine automotive maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and filter replacements
• Diagnose and repair issues with vehicles
• Inspect and test automotive electrical systems for faults and malfunctions
• Replace worn or damaged parts, such as shocks, struts, and suspension components
• Perform scheduled vehicle maintenance services according to manufacturer guidelines
• Keep accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed
• Explain automotive systems issues to customers to ensure a clear, transparent repair process
• Operate diagnostic equipment to accurately determine the cause of malfunction codes with the vehicle’s integrated computer system
• Adhere to manufacturer specifications to maintain vehicle systems and ensure customer satisfaction
• Help establish service protocols for tracking the status of repairs, maintaining relevant technical manuals, using charts, and more for all of our dealerships
• When needed, conduct routine maintenance such as checking fluids, rotating tires, replacing brake pads, and oil changes
