Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic math, reading and writing skills.
• Ability to follow written or oral instructions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving.
• Ability to operate a standard transmission vehicle.
• Proficiency with computers and a 10-key calculator.
• Good verbal communication and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose causes of malfunctions and perform repairs when authorized.
• Perform repair work as outlined on the repair order with safety and accuracy.
• Communicate with the advisor and parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Road-test vehicles when required.
• Supervise apprentice technicians as assigned.
• Keep shop area neat and account for tools.
• Follow regulations on disposal of hazardous wastes.
• Ensure customer cars are kept clean.
