Job summary

Dobbs Tire and Auto Centers in Webster Groves, MO, is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in leading daily retail and service operations. You will help coach staff, manage scheduling, monitor KPIs, and drive sales, service, and profitability.

The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, customer focus, and the ability to lead a fast-paced, high-volume automotive center while ensuring safety and compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager in leading retail and service teams, including hiring, performance management, coaching, corrective action, and compensation-related decisions.
• Support the direction of store staff in selling, servicing, and repairing vehicles to drive efficiency, quality, and profitability.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of store performance KPIs, including gross profit, tire sales, and service revenue, and help lead the team toward achieving targets.
• Train, coach, and mentor employees on proper repair and maintenance procedures, customer service standards, and operational best practices.
• Create and maintains schedules for front-of-house and back-of-shop employees to ensure appropriate staffing during all operating hours, including store opening and closing.
• Review sales and operational performance data, identify opportunities for improvement, and assist in implementing strategies to achieve financial and operational goals.
• Support inventory management, including ordering, tracking, and accounting for equipment, replacement parts, and tires.
• Assist with general housekeeping, facility upkeep, and hands-on operational tasks as needed, including stocking, organizing, and other store support activities.
• Recommend and support technical training initiatives to promote continuous skill development across all technician levels.
• Ensure all store operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Help foster a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence within the sales and service teams in partnership with the Store Manager.
• Maintain flexibility to work varied schedules, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, to meet business and customer needs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
