Job summary

Young Automotive Group in Layton, UT is seeking a skilled Service Advisor / Service Writer to join our team. You will be the liaison between customers and service technicians, ensuring accurate vehicle data, clear communication, and outstanding service throughout repairs.

Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills, automotive knowledge, and a proven history of delivering exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• Two years related experience and/or training required.
• History of solid and successful employment with good references.
• Proven track record of providing exceptional customer service.
• Prior sales experience helpful.
• Clean driving record.
• Able to pass background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Schedules service appointments and obtains customer and vehicle data prior to arrival.
• Writes up customer’s vehicle problems accurately and clearly on repair orders.
• Advises customers on the care of their cars and the value of maintaining their vehicles in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.
• Refers to service history.
• Inspects vehicle and recommends additional needed service.
• Provides a complete and accurate written cost estimate for labor and parts.
• Checks on progress of repair throughout the day and contacts customers regarding any changes in the estimate or promised time.
• Explains cost and time requirements in detail and gets proper authorization before any additional repairs are performed.
• Keeps service department forms - menus and pricing guides up-to-date.
• Explains completed work and all charges to customers.
• Implements a quality control process to eliminate comebacks.
• Handles telephone inquiries regarding appointments and work in process.
