AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE ADVISOR

THE POSITION: The Service Advisor is responsible for scheduling service work, following up with customers, and selling additional services to customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) rating as set by the service manager.
  • Greet customers in a timely, friendly, and professional manner. Communicate with customers to determine their mechanical issues. Obtain accurate customer and vehicle data.
  • Advise customers on vehicle care and maintenance according to manufacturer specifications.
  • If additional work is needed, clearly explain repair instructions and note the main reasons for the visit. Repair orders must be legible.
  • Notify dispatcher of incoming work.
  • Provide estimates for labor and parts. Contact customers later for approval if the cost cannot be established during reception.
  • Establish each customer’s method of payment and obtain credit approval if necessary.
  • Obtain customer’s signature on repair order and provide a copy.
  • Follow up on repair progress during the day. Contact customers regarding changes in estimates and record updates properly.
  • Handle inquiries about work in process and appointments.
  • Compare final invoice with original repair order.
  • Analyze quality control reports to ensure work is completed as requested, reducing rework.
  • Deliver vehicle to customer and answer questions.
  • Maintain a follow-up program on additional repair items found.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Keep work and customer areas clean.
