Job summary

Genuine Parts Company’s NAPA retail unit seeks an Assistant Store Manager who combines automotive knowledge with strong customer service and operational leadership. You will support the Store Manager across all store functions while maintaining active counter sales, inventory control, and delivery coordination.

This role is a developmental pathway to Store Manager, may require overtime and keyholder duties.

Qualifications

• Experience in automotive after-market or willingness to learn all things automotive.
• Leadership experience.
• Customer care focus and relationship building.
• Ability to lift 60 lbs.
• Knowledge of cataloging/inventory systems.
• Background in automotive, heavy equipment, diesel, marine, or dealership preferred.
• ASE Certifications a plus.
• NAPA Know How is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Partner daily with Store Manager on operations, sales execution, inventory health, labor/scheduling alignment, and team performance.
• Actively sell and build customer relationships across channels (in-store, phone, and external dealer/wholesale calls as needed).
• Model expected behaviors, processes, and customer standards.
• Execute or oversee opening and closing routines (security, cash reconciliation, end-of-day reporting, facility readiness).
• Handle or support administrative tasks: scheduling input, compliance documentation, performance tracking/reporting, and basic P&L awareness items.
• Monitor and act on store metrics (sales, inventory accuracy/turn, customer satisfaction, cleanliness/organization, labor efficiency, loss prevention).
• Provide leadership oversight, training and performance management for flexible execution of all store functions.
• Support talent development: coaching and mentoring successors for advancement.
• Drive adherence to safety, asset protection, operational processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
