Job summary

Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW) is seeking a Design Engineer for its Deltar Fasteners division in Frankfort, IL. You will lead design projects for plastic fasteners and assemblies, create detailed drawings, and collaborate with customers and suppliers throughout development.

Responsibilities include evaluating feasibility, performing testing, transferring knowledge across OEM accounts, and pursuing patentable concepts while traveling domestically as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related discipline.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated with drive for results; able to work with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of plastic products and automotive applications.
• Experience with 3D CAD software and FEA tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as project manager coordinating with sales and customers to meet technical requirements.
• Create preliminary concepts, detailed drawings, and supporting documentation.
• Develop innovative design concepts for automotive fasteners and assemblies.
• Evaluate design feasibility, manufacturability, and performance.
• Conduct testing to ensure reliability and compliance.
• Prepare and submit patent applications for novel designs.
• Collaborate with suppliers on material specs and technical requirements.
