Qualifications

  • Prior controller or senior accounting experience in a dealership.
  • Knowledge of dealership accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Experience with automotive DMS systems and manufacturer reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all dealership accounting functions including GL, AP, AR, cash management and financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely month-end and year-end closings.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and dealership reports.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and reconcile accounts.
  • Monitor cash flow and banking activities.
  • Review and approve transactions per policy.
  • Review deal paperwork and posting of vehicle transactions.
  • Monitor floorplan accounts, curtailments, interest expense, and inventory.
  • Reconcile vehicle inventory and related receivables.
  • Review AR aging and ensure timely collections.
  • Verify manufacturer incentives, rebates and other receivables are recorded.

Automotive Office Manager

The Automotive Controller is responsible for overseeing the dealership's accounting and financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls and regulatory compliance. The Controller works closely with the Dealer Principal, General Manager, department managers, and accounting staff to monitor dealership performance.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
  • Oversee all dealership accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closings.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and dealership financial reports.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and ensure proper account reconciliation.
  • Monitor cash flow and dealership banking activities.
  • Review and approve accounting transactions in accordance with company policies.
Automotive Dealership Operations
  • Review deal paperwork and ensure accurate posting of vehicle transactions.
  • Monitor floorplan accounts, curtailments, interest expense, and vehicle inventory.
  • Reconcile vehicle inventory and related receivables.
  • Monitor warranty receivables, factory receivables, and other outstanding accounts.
  • Review accounts receivable aging and ensure timely collection.
  • Verify manufacturer incentives, rebates, and other receivables are properly recorded.
Qualifications
  • Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Office Manager, or senior dealership accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of dealership accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Experience with automotive DMS systems and manufacturer financial reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
