Job summary

Mills Auto Group is seeking a Controller in Hampton, VA to oversee daily accounting, cash management, and financial reporting. The role ensures accuracy of statements, adherence to controls, and robust compliance across a multi-dealership environment.

You will manage OEM financial statements, month-end close, and coordination with the CFO and management on budgets and performance. Prior CDK DMS experience is a plus, with a focus on process efficiency and strong controls.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Automotive Controller experience or 4+ years of dealership office management experience.
• Experience supporting a multi-rooftop dealership group strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of OEM financial statements, dealership accounting, and month-end close.

Job Title: Controller

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Position Overview: As our business expands, we are seeking a driven Controller to oversee and ensure the precision of our financial statements. The Controller will be instrumental in implementing robust compliance measures and managing essential controls to support our financial objectives. This role is pivotal in handling cash, factory receivables, reserves, Finance Product remittances, and overseeing product cancellations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting, bank reconciliations, cash, A/R, A/P, and vehicle inventory.
• Lead themonth-end close and preparation of OEM financial statementsand management reports.
• Oversee floor plan, finance reserves, factory receivables, WIP, and finance product remittances.
• Ensure accurate posting of vehicle, service, parts, and body shop transactions.
• Coordinate physical inventories and reconcile inventory to the general ledger.
• Partner with the CFO and dealership management on budgets, expenses, and financial performance.
• Maintain strong accounting controls and identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Automotive Controller experienceor 4+ years of dealership office management experience.
• Experience supporting amulti-rooftop dealership groupstrongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge ofOEM financial statements, dealership accounting, and month-end close.
• Experience withCDK DMS or other automotive accounting systemsis a plus.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
