NOW HIRING! Automotive Mechanic Supervisor

Monday - Friday Dayshift Schedule

Supervises all facets of automotive mechanic operations per policies and procedures set by the corporate office and regulatory requirements with a focus on meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, efficiency, and service. This may span multiple shifts.

Day to Day Role:

  • Supervise and promote practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards, and serve the needs of our customers
  • Take ownership and demonstrate leadership necessary to achieve goals specific to Safety, Quality, Service, Efficiency and Employee Development
  • Fair and equal treatment of all employees regarding all aspects of employment, regardless of any protected characteristics.
  • Track Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), anticipating and correcting trends which would compromise achievement of targets
  • Proactively seek and identify problems that need to be resolved and quantify the anticipated benefits of problem resolution
  • Facilitate problem solving by leveraging/modeling continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate root causes
  • Apply knowledge of mechanical fundamentals, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair to vehicle fleet operation
  • Manages equipment repair and oversees the correction of problems with tools, machinery and other standard technical equipment
  • Provide classroom instruction and hands-on training as needed to Mechanics to ensure compliance to regulations, Dart’s policies, procedures, and safety culture
  • Administer, monitor, and/or distribute training material (printed or virtual) to ensure staff is meeting or exceeding training and safety standards
  • Oversee and ensure mechanic performance is in accordance with regulatory requirements and Dart guidelines
  • Supervise, train and promote practices and processes intended to safely maintain the fleet and comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality and safety standards to serve the needs of our customers
  • Lead by example to promote and encourage employees to strongly commit to safety, policies and Dart practices
  • Participate in safety meetings per Corporate guidelines
  • Understand, support, and follow management expectations in alignment with company values
  • Take ownership and demonstrate leadership necessary to achieve goals specific to Safety, Quality, Service, Efficiency and Employee Development

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • High School diploma with seven (7) years of related experience, OR
    • Associate degree with an emphasis in Vehicle Maintenance, Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, or related field of study and five (5) years related industry experience
  • Must meet all requirements to be Power Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) certified
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment and scan tools
  • One (1) year supervisory experience required with strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes to internal customers
  • Microsoft Word skills to include the ability to open, close, create, edit and save documents
  • Microsoft Excel skills to include the ability to create basic spreadsheets, open, close, edit, (e.g., cut, paste, insert and delete rows) and save spreadsheets
  • Microsoft PowerPoint skills to include the ability to edit and save presentations (e.g., add slides)
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to maintain composure when faced with stressful situations
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age with valid Class B CDL (Commercial Driver License) OR 21 years of age with valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver License)
  • · Minimum of one (1) year over the road tractor-trailer driving experience
