Responsibilities

• Preventative maintenance including oil changes, tune-ups, tire changes, and major system adjustments.
• State inspections and associated documentation and sticker applications.
• Diesel servicing including component replacement and basic maintenance.
• Field work providing emergency road service and repairs when required.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and report injuries as required.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

• Vehicle Repairs: Perform maintenance and repairs on cars, trucks, tractors, and construction equipment while replacing worn or damaged parts
• Preventative Maintenance: Carry out routine servicing including oil changes, tune‑ups, tire changes, and adjustments to major systems
• State Inspections: Complete official safety and emissions inspections, apply inspection stickers, and finalize required records
• Diesel Servicing: Service diesel equipment by replacing components, repairing systems, and conducting basic maintenance tasks
• Field Work: Provide emergency road service and complete repairs outside the garage when required
• Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean work area, follow safety procedures, and report injuries promptly

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full‑time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,819.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
• Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension .
• You must be a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Certified Inspection Mechanic for Class 7 vehicles.

Additional Requirements:

• You must provide your own mechanics toolbox and basic tool set.
• You must possess a CFC-12 Refrigerant Recycling Certificate and a 134A Refrigerant Recycling Certificate upon hire.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
