Midas - Touch of Gold in Gary, IN is seeking Automotive Managers in Training / Service Writers. This store‑level developmental role trains you to handle phone calls, set appointments, interact with customers, and assist with basic service and sales while preparing for future store management.

You will deliver great customer service, discuss estimates, oversee inspections, and help with shop operations as part of a program that promotes from within.

Qualifications

• 2+ years store or service manager experience preferred.
• General automotive knowledge.
• Excellent customer service disposition.
• Good communication skills.
• Leadership ability.
• Ability to follow directions & processes.
• Ability to use computers & software.
• Flexible retail schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service while listening to and consulting customers.
• Follow up with customers, services requested, estimated completion times etc.
• Oversee complete vehicle inspections and then make comprehensive recommendations—building computerized repair orders and sourcing parts.
• Deliver and discuss pricing estimates with customers as well as promoting shop service specials.
• Oversee technicians’ inspections, diagnosing and repairing of domestic, European and Asian cars and light trucks.
• Maintain inventory counts.
• Overall cleanliness and organization of the facility.
• Perform oil changes, tire rotations, and very basic technician jobs.
• Other duties as assigned.
