Job summary

Midas is seeking an Automotive Manager in Training/Service Writer in Hobart, IN. This development role will assist the Store Manager in operations, customer service, and basic service tasks while learning to manage appointments, pricing discussions, and parts sourcing.

The role emphasizes on-site customer interaction, performance-based pay components, and advancement opportunities within a team-focused environment. Previous automotive experience and strong communication are valued.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of store or service manager experience preferred but not required
• General automotive knowledge is expected
• Excellent customer service disposition and strong communication skills
• Leadership ability and team-building skills are important
• Ability to follow directions and processes; comfortable using computers & software
• Willingness to work a flexible retail schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service while listening to and consulting customers
• Follow up with customers, services requested, estimated completion times etc.
• Oversee complete vehicle inspections and then make comprehensive recommendations—building computerized repair orders and sourcing parts
• Deliver and discuss pricing estimates with customers and promote shop service specials
• Oversee technicians’ inspections, diagnosing and repairing of domestic, European and Asian cars and light trucks
• Maintain inventory counts
• Overall cleanliness and organization of the facility
• Perform oil changes, tire rotations, and very basic technician jobs
• Other duties as assigned
