Job summary

The State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation (DOT) invites applications for a Transportation Maintenance Crew Leader (Automotive Maintenance) at the Colchester Repair Garage, with future opportunities in Putnam and Old Saybrook. This full-time, first-shift (7:30 AM–4:00 PM) on-site role requires a CDL Class A or B with tank endorsement and a Medical Examiner’s Card.

Expect emergency duties, winter overtime, and residency within 30 miles of the posting.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of skilled experience in automotive maintenance and repair.
• Must possess and maintain a valid CDL Class A or B with tank endorsement and a valid Medical Examiner’s Card (MEC).
• Incumbents must be willing to accept emergency duties, including snow/ice removal, with mandatory winter overtime.

Responsibilities

• Plans crew workflow and determines priorities.
• Schedules, assigns, oversees, and reviews work.
• Establishes and maintains crew procedures.
• Provides staff training and assistance.
• Conducts or assists in performance evaluations.
• Acts as liaison with operating units and outside officials.
• Requisitions materials and equipment for jobs.
• May prepare reports and correspondence.
• May be required to stand by for fire/crash emergencies at airports.
