Job summary

DATTCO, a long-standing family-owned transportation company, seeks a full-time 3rd shift Diesel Technician/Mechanic for the Coach and Tour Fleet Maintenance location in New Britain, CT. The role involves preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair work on a range of vehicles.

Working 11pm–7am, Tue–Sat, with Sun and Mon off, you’ll receive medical/dental/life insurance, 401(k) with match, generous PTO, EAP, and training reimbursements for CDL/ASE certifications, plus a clear internal

Qualifications

• High school diploma, trade school or equivalent.
• 3+ years training or experience in automotive, truck or bus repair.
• Dealership experience preferred.
• Valid CT driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain a DOT medical card; CDL license; ASE certifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and service inspections on a variety of vehicles.
• Performs diagnostic and repair work on all types of vehicles.
• Completes required paperwork in regards to repair orders and parts usage.
• Makes road calls - this may require travel.
• Owns and maintains the proper hand tools to perform job functions.
• Follow orders of the shop foreman or other supervisor.

DATTCO is now New England’s largest private passenger transportation company. Our Coach & Tour Group operates 200 vehicles and drives 6 million miles annually.

DATTCO currently has a full-time 3rd shift Diesel Technician/Mechanic opening at our Coach and Tour Fleet Maintenance location in New Britain, CT!

• Hourly Rate: $25.00–$30/hr
  • Additional Rate(s): overtime opportunities, + $2/hr for 3rd shift differential, and ASE bonus offers.
• Schedule: 11pm-7am, Tuesday-Saturday
  • Scheduled days off: Sunday + Monday.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and service inspections on a variety of vehicles.

Requirements:

Education:

• High school diploma, trade school or equivalent.

Experience:

• 3+ years training or experience in the field of automotive, truck or bus repair.
• Dealership experience preferred.
• Valid CT driver’s license.

• Hold or be eligible to obtain a CDL license.
• Hold or be willing to work toward ASE certifications.

Skills:

• Adequate English verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be a self-starter.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, twist, stand, walk, and work in and around vehicles for extended periods.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment safely.
