Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a hands-on GPS installation technician to support fleet customers in the Indianapolis area. You will install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment on light-duty and commercial vehicles during on-site visits.

The role requires basic vehicle electrical knowledge, ability to read wiring diagrams, use hand and power tools, and maintain high safety and quality standards in mobile environments.

Qualifications

Hands-on automotive/electrical/installation experience preferred.
Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and follow technical instructions.
Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to safety.

Responsibilities

Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment
Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets
Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections
Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations
Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality
Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues
Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes
Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects
Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations

Requirements

Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience
Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics
Comfortable using hand and power tools
Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work
Professional communication and customer service skills
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in, around, and underneath vehicles and trailers
21+ years of age
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions
