Job summary

Stretch Zone is seeking a Service Technician to perform HVACR jobs for both commercial and residential customers. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, assisting in training, and conducting sales. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or HVACR training and 3–5 years of experience.

  • Must have a Texas operator's license and be insurable.

Job description

The Service Technician reports to the Director of Service and is responsible for performing a range of HVACR jobs for commercial and residential customers.

Responsibilities
  • Job‑related contact can occur with virtually all demographic groups, with the majority of contacts being service customers, other technicians, the Service Manager, Dispatcher, and the Parts Runners.
  • Perform routine HVACR service activities without direct oversight or on‑site assistance.
  • Assist the Senior Service Technician(s) in training other employees on service‑related subjects, including call‑back prevention and equipment protocols.
  • Conduct point‑of‑work sales of IAQ services, unit components, unit replacements, add‑on units, and residential service contracts.
  • Develop lead referrals for the sales staff.
  • Perform related duties as directed by the Service Manager.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate and graduate of a post‑secondary HVACR program of instruction or 3–5 years field experience.
  • One to three or more years of successful experience, either as a commercial service or installation technician.
  • Good verbal and reading skills, including the ability to read and apply manufacturers' instructions and to clearly communicate with residential and commercial customers, suppliers, and other employees.
  • Physical ability to perform all duties noted above under the conditions, circumstances, and extreme weather conditions found in South Texas.
  • Interest and initiative in maintaining and advancing HVACR skills through self‑study, company training, manufacturers' workshops, and other professional development activities.
  • Current Texas operator's license and ability to operate all vehicles in the corporate fleet within 30 days of initial employment.
  • Insurable by the current insurance carrier.
  • Ability to work under pressures of time, a non‑standard schedule, weather, customer needs, and backlog constraints.
  • Decisive, tactful, dependable, with initiative and ability to communicate well with all customer groups.
  • Accurate diagnostic ability and efficient job completion to the mutual benefit of the customer.
