Amentum is hiring an Automotive Fluid Analysis Chemistry Laboratory Engineer to work onsite in Dearborn, MI within Ford Central Laboratory. This entry-level position supports chemical testing and analysis in a salaried laboratory environment.

You will analyze automotive fluids, learn to operate specialized equipment, and assist with emission analyses and potential root-cause investigations. This role offers benefits and a clear growth path in a large government services contractor.

We are hiring an Automotive Fluid Analysis Chemistry Laboratory Engineer to work in Dearborn, MI. This is an opportunity to work in a salaried UAW Laboratory as a scientific lab engineer at Ford Central Laboratory. This is an entry level full time/onsite position where the candidate will work as a resource for chemical related issues in a laboratory environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• analysis of automotive fluids (engine oils, transmission fluids etc.)
• learn and perform automotive fluid testing utilizing specialized laboratory equipment including elemental analysis, Total Acid and Base Number, Viscosity, Fuel Dilution and Oxidation/Nitration.
• learn to analyze tail pipe emission compounds via HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography).
• longer term possible responsibilities would expand to failure analysis of automotive components to help identify root causes of production, durability and warranty issues.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and /or Skill Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
• Demonstrated ability to: Maintain Analytical Instrumentation, Multitask and handle technical issues, Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others
