Automotive Equipment Operator 2 (Vactor Truck Driver)

This is skilled work operating heavy automotive or construction equipment in Pinellas County Stormwater Drainage Operations. Employees operate complex and specialized equipment, requiring skill and care, with emphasis on knowledge of NPDES and FDOT regulations. Duties include operating heavy equipment like vactor trucks efficiently.

Work location: 22211 US Hwy., 19, Clearwater, FL. Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 7 AM - 5:30 PM.

What Would You Do?

• Supervise, on a project basis, assigned operators or personnel, ensuring safety, productivity, and efficiency.
• Set barricades, act as flagger, and perform general labor as needed.
• Perform related work as assigned.

What Do You Need To Have?

• 6 months experience operating a vactor truck; or
• Public Works Academy training certificate for equipment operators; or
• Pinellas County employee equipment certification with experience or training on a vactor truck.
• Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License 'B' with tanker endorsement.
• Ability to work various schedules, including emergency and disaster situations.
• Other knowledge, skills, and credentials as required.

Highly Desirable

• Florida Commercial Driver's License 'A'.
• Experience inspecting conveyance pipes and structures.
• Confined space certification.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Skill in operating heavy automotive/construction equipment (e.g., vactor trucks).
• Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and safety precautions for such equipment.
• Ability to perform safety inspections and routine maintenance.
• Ability to complete accurate reports.
• Physical ability to operate heavy equipment and perform manual labor under adverse weather conditions.
