Job summary

BWI Group in Moraine, Ohio seeks an embedded software engineer to design and develop control software for brake, suspension, and other chassis systems. You will collaborate with hardware, software and control system teams to translate requirements into robust embedded code.

Responsibilities include testing, simulation, and debugging; maintaining knowledge of automotive standards; and aligning development strategies across global ECU teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Hands-on experience developing and troubleshooting software on embedded targets.
• Strong programming skills in C and/or C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience with RTOS-based embedded systems design.
• Familiarity with version control and defect tracking tools.
• Ability to read schematics and understand hardware constraints.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded control software for brake, suspension, or other chassis systems.
• Create embedded software requirements for vehicle systems, working closely with hardware, software and control system product development teams.
• Perform software testing, system testing, and/or simulation to verify software designs.
• Perform software unit testing and assist in the development of tests.
• Interface with hardware design teams and systems engineering teams to address/resolve issues.
• Investigate and resolve product issues found during development, validation testing, manufacturing or warranty returns.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global automotive standards and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with BWI’s global ECU hardware, software and control system teams to align embedded software development and test strategies and concepts across multiple sites.
• Support ISO 26262 System Safety Process
• Support Automotive SPICE-compliant software development processes
• Support vehicle application and calibration development
• Contribute to vehicle and functional software issue resolution
