Job summary

Magna Electronics in Lowell, MA is seeking a Warranty Analysis Engineer to lead root-cause investigations for field-returned automotive electronic components. You will work with hardware and software teams to diagnose, test, and drive product improvements, while coordinating with quality to ensure timely customer reporting and 8D handling.

Qualifications include a BS in Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in automotive electronics warranty analysis, with hands-on testing tools and IPC

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or above.
• Minimum 5 years in automotive electronics warranty analysis or related field with knowledge of NA/EU/Asian OEM warranty processes, systems and tools.
• Structured problem-solving for automotive electronic systems.
• Hands-on with test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, CAN tools, data acquisition).
• Experience with soldering and IC swapping.
• IPC-7711/21 and IPC-A-610 certifications.
• Cross-functional work with hardware, software, and product engineering.
• Documenting findings and tracking investigations in issue management systems.
• Strong track record reducing NTF through systematic investigation.

Responsibilities

• Perform root cause analysis by bench and board level testing to verify reported customer behavior and identify potential causes.
• Product-level performance testing and low-level board testing.
• Component debug and swaps (QFNs, BGAs, etc.).
• Mechanical evaluations such as water leak testing and weld integrity.
• Coordinate with hardware and software teams to support product improvements.
• Report analysis steps in warranty management tool.
• Collaborate with Quality Engineers to ensure 8D documentation and timely customer responses.
