Job summary

Alten USA is seeking a Design Release Engineer, Electrical Accessories, to lead the development of electrical accessory connection points for automotive systems. You will coordinate across electrical hardware, systems, and software teams under the Manager of Electrical Modules and Accessories.

Ideal candidates hold a 4-year degree in engineering and have 5+ years of automotive electrical design experience, with hands-on CAN/LIN/Ethernet and LV/HV component expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program; Master's preferred.
• 5 years of automotive electrical design and release experience.
• Hands-on with open/closed loop control for sensors, actuators, ECUs, etc.
• Experience with LV components (circuit breakers, relays, wiring).
• Experience with HV components (DCDC converters, motor, inverter, battery, on-board charger).
• Hands-on CAN, LIN and Ethernet communications; problem-solving (8D, Five Whys, Fishbone).
• Familiarity with FMVSS, NHTSA, DOT, USCAR, SAE, NEC; strong communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; adaptable to fast-paced launches.

Responsibilities

• Define requirements for electrical accessories and wiring harnesses.
• Develop designs in CAD ensuring compatibility with vehicle systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and software teams for integration.
• Work with manufacturing and purchasing to support production and issue resolution.
• Apply LEAN engineering methodologies throughout.
