Job summary

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in electrical/electronics/CS engineering, 5+ years in automotive electrical design and release, and hands-on experience with CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and LV/HV components.

  • Develop designs using CAD while ensuring compatibility with vehicle systems.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams for seamless integration.
  • Support production and issue resolution with manufacturing and purchasing.
  • Apply LEAN Engineering methodologies across projects.

Job Description:

  • Looking for an energetic and organized Design Release Engineer, Electrical Accessories to lead the development of electrical accessory point integration.
  • This position will work with the electrical hardware, systems, and software teams along with the accessory group to develop robust and cost-effective accessory connection points.
  • This Engineer will report to the Manager of Electrical Modules and Accessories.
  • Responsibilities will be broad in scope and complex, requiring creativity, superior initiative, good judgement, and leadership skills.
  • Define requirements for electrical accessories, including wiring harnesses, control modules, lighting, and other components.
  • Develop designs using CAD software while ensuring compatibility with vehicle systems.
  • Work with various engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software) to ensure seamless integration of accessories.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, purchasing, and other stakeholders to support production and resolve issues.
  • Utilize LEAN Engineering methodologies throughout.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited (or equivalent) program. Master's degree is preferred.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in automotive electrical design and release.
  • Hands on experience with open loop and closed loop control systems for sensors, actuators, body controllers, ECUs, etc.
  • Hands on experience with Low Voltage (LV) components, such as circuit breakers, relays, wiring, etc.
  • Hands on experience with High Voltage (HV) components, such as DCDC converter, motor and inverter, battery, on-board charger, etc.
  • Hands on experience with CAN, LIN, and Ethernet communication protocols.
  • Experience using problem solving methodologies to diagnose complex issues, such as 8D, Five Whys, and Fishbone processes.
  • Functional experience with industry standards and regulatory requirements, such as FMVSSS, NHTSA, DOT, USCAR, SAE, NEC, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
  • Highly adaptable and proactive, excelling in fast-paced start-up and new model launch environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have the ability to travel (up to 50%).
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
