Job summary

Kahlig Auto Group is seeking an Automotive Controller to lead the store’s accounting office and partner with the General Manager on financial strategy. The role owns month-end close, financial statements, cash management and internal controls to drive gross profit growth and expense control.

Reports to the General Manager and CFO and supervises billing, titles, AP and payroll staff. Location is San Antonio, Texas; full-time, on-site.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of franchised dealership accounting experience.
• Experience supervising accounting staff.
• Ability to close month-end and produce the manufacturer financial statements.
• Strong knowledge of dealership schedules, ledgers, and reconciliations.
• Proficiency with Texas sales and motor vehicle tax returns.
• Advanced Excel and MS Office skills.
• High character and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Close the books accurately and on schedule each month.
• Prepare and submit the manufacturer financial statement and internal reports by deadlines.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly (bank, floorplan, manufacturer receivables, contracts in transit, warranty).
• Review accounting schedules and correct aged or misposted items.
• Provide operating reports to management and ensure accuracy.
• Interpret financial statements for the GM and department managers.
• Assist with annual budget and monthly forecasts; track performance.
• Oversee cash, assets, and internal controls; support audits.
