Job summary

Advantage Technical in Dearborn, MI is seeking an Applications Engineer to drive the design and release of automotive body structures. This contract role offers a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week, enabling close collaboration with suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams.

You will develop 3D CAD Models using CATIA V5/V6 or 3DX, lead sheet metal components from concept to production, and support prototype builds, testing, and validation while ensuring costs,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of automotive structures design and release experience.
• Experience developing automotive sheet metal components from concept to production.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• CATIA V5/V6 and/or 3DX experience preferred.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, DMAIC, DFSS, DOE, 8D, and CAD/CAE review processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and release of automotive body structure components from pre-program through launch
• Develop and review 3D CAD models using CATIA V5/V6 or 3DX
• Design upper body sheet metal structures, including roof panels, pillars, and quarter panels
• Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing teams, purchasing, and quality groups
• Support prototype builds, component testing, and product validation activities
• Manage engineering changes while meeting cost, timing, durability, and performance targets
• Support structural performance requirements including safety, NVH, stiffness, and durability
