Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol Corporation, seeks a Tooling and Automation Engineer to join the Nashua, NH team. You will develop tooling for new and existing products, create processes and maintenance plans, and work with cross-functional teams to optimize tooling and automation for high-volume assembly.

Responsibilities include tooling scope, supplier coordination, process definition, and DFMs/FMEAs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; robotics/controls a plus.
• Proficient with solid modeling tools (Creo, SolidWorks).
• Experience with automation, PLCs, machine vision, and electrical controls.
• Project management experience; proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop and document assembly tooling for new/existing products; define scope of work and validate tooling.
• Develop and document assembly processes, spare parts lists, and preventative maintenance plans.
• Define process steps, operation sequences, material handling, and preliminary layouts.
• Prepare equipment and systems specifications; scope of work.
• Collaborate with product development to explore enabling technologies.
• Define supply chain from raw materials to customer application.
• Model cycle times, efficiencies, yields, and line balance with team IEs.
• Work with DFMs, FMEAs and risk assessment activities.
• Define critical product/process parameters and tolerances; relate to process functions.
• Evaluate safety and occupational health for processes.
• Provide cost and operational criteria for tooling acquisition.
• Propose and implement cost reduction for mature assembly processes.
