Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. is seeking a Software Test Engineer in Rochester, NY to develop desktop and web-based software for automated test systems and backend support.

You will work with engineering and operations to design robust test solutions, collaborating across teams to meet requirements. The role emphasizes OO programming in .NET languages, Python, and understanding networking/web technologies, with travel up to 5%.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering field (Electrical/Computer/Software) required.
• 2 years of related work experience.
• Ability to program clean OO code in .NET-based language.
• Ability to program clean OO code using Python.
• Understanding of networking and modern web technologies (REST, WebSockets).
• Ability to work with an international team.

Responsibilities

• Develop desktop and web-based software for new or existing applications, utilities, and backend systems.
• Take a systems-based approach to designing new test systems.
• Coordinate with test and design engineers on requirements for test systems.
• Analyze schematics to ensure test systems stress important parts of each product’s functionality.
