MKS Instruments in Methuen, MA seeks an Automation Engineer to support automation development across global production sites. You will design, integrate, and troubleshoot automated systems, collaborating with design, controls, and robotics teams to improve efficiency, quality and throughput.

The role combines hands-on mechanical design with electrical and control system integration in a hybrid work setting at our Methuen location.

Qualifications

• B.S. in engineering or equivalent required.
• 2+ years designing automated manufacturing systems.
• Experience reading schematics and designing control panels.

Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and integrate automated mechanical systems (motion, tooling, fixtures).
• Develop machine concepts and layouts using CAD tools like SolidWorks.
• Select motors, actuators, sensors, and safety devices for automation equipment.
• Support design reviews, prototyping, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Lead integration, startup, verification, and commissioning of solutions.
• Design experiments to evaluate new automation technologies and processes.
• Collaborate to align automation standards across divisions and factories.
