Job summary

MKS Instruments is seeking a Software Test Engineer for Power Solutions in Rochester, NY. You will develop desktop and web-based software and backend systems, collaborating with engineering, IT, and operations to build automated test systems.

You will analyze schematics and design test systems with a systems-based approach, coordinating with design engineers to meet requirements and stress critical product functionality.

Qualifications

• BS in an engineering field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering)
• 2 years of job-related work experience
• Ability to program clean object-oriented code in a .NET-based language
• Ability to program clean object-oriented code using Python
• Understanding of networking and the latest web development technologies (REST, WebSockets)
• Ability to work with an international team – both inside and outside of the company

Responsibilities

• Develop desktop and web-based software for new/existing applications, utilities, and backend systems
• Take a systems-based approach to designing new test systems
• Coordinate with test and design engineers on the requirements for test systems
• Analyze schematics to ensure test systems appropriately stress important parts of each product’s functionality
