Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking an experienced embedded test automation engineer to design, develop, and maintain automated tests for our smart home/security platforms. You will partner with software, hardware, and QA teams to ensure reliable, scalable test coverage across API, UI, and system levels.

The role requires strong Python skills, hands-on Linux debugging, and experience with CI/CD pipelines. You will drive automation improvements, reduce flaky tests, and contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional embedded test automation experience.
• 3+ years of Python experience.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
• Experience leveraging AI tools for software design, development and review.
• Hands-on experience with Linux-based systems, debugging and system-level troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Python automated tests for API, UI, and system-level scenarios.
• Review manual test cases and identify automation candidates.
• Debug test failures and reduce flaky tests.
• Participate in code reviews and follow automation best practices.
• Collaborate with developers, hardware and QA engineers on integration and troubleshooting.
• Develop and maintain automated unit and functional tests.
