Job summary

NRG Energy is hiring a Senior-level Manual Test Engineer to own and drive high-quality testing across critical product areas. The role requires hands-on testing, domain expertise, and collaboration with Engineering, Product, and cross-functional peers to identify the best testing approach and ensure reliable releases.

You will be a domain expert in test execution and quality risk, applying structured troubleshooting and clear communication to protect the end-user experience.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Linux and Python experience, command-line fluency.
• Exposure to embedded devices and HW/SW interactions.
• Understanding of networking tech (WiFi, cellular, Z-Wave).
• Exposure to C and C++ and debugging defects with engineers.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic approach.

Responsibilities

• Own quality for your area and drive testing strategy.
• Collaborate across teams to evaluate quality risks.
• Create durable test plans, results, and reports in Confluence/Jira/Slack.
• Define milestones and prioritize high-value coverage.
• Identify high-impact issues and validate fixes before releases.
• Support automation where applicable and identify areas for automation.
• Troubleshoot across software, hardware, networking, and environments.
