Georgia Northwestern Technical College seeks a qualified Automation Technology Adjunct Instructor/Evenings to be located on the Whitfield Murray County Campus and travel to other campuses as needed. This on-campus role reports to the Dean of Industrial Technologies and advises students in the Automation Technology program.

Automation Technology Adjunct Instructor/Evenings
Part Time
Whitfield Murray Campus

Job Summary:

Georgia Northwestern Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Automation Technology Adjunct Instructor/Evenings to be located on the Whitfield Murray County Campus and will be required to travel to other campuses to meet operational requirements. This position will report to Dean of Industrial Technologies. The Automation Technology Adjunct Instructor will advise students in the Automation Technology program and participate in institutional activities. This position requires an on-campus work environment presence and does not offer a telework option.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides professional instruction based on approved course syllabus. Ensures that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives;
  • Prepares curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught;
  • Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives;
  • Administers and grades class examinations;
  • Maintains records of student attendance and grades;
  • Attends in-service training, workshops and seminars, as needed;
  • Maintains program certification requirements;
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training areas;
  • Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts;
  • Meets with students, staff members, supervisors, as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or diploma in Automation Technology OR Industrial Systems Technology OR specialized/related training with an emphasis on demonstrated competencies and achievements
  • Three (3) years’ paid work experience in the field within the past seven (7) years – Work experience must include the competencies, skills, and knowledge levels included in the Automation Technology instructional programs.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent technology and classroom management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • State of Georgia Class II Electrical Contractor License
  • Post-secondary teaching experience, curriculum development, and program recruitment experience in a two-year college environment
  • Excellent technology and classroom management skills

Physical Demands:

Work is typically performed in a classroom or office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects to a light to medium weight. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.

If the job involves driving, physical requirements include the ability to operate a vehicle and sit for extended periods.

Salary: Lump sum

Benefits:

If this is a part-time position, no benefits are available. If this is a full-time position, benefits include: 13 paid State holidays, annual and sick leave, paid parental leave, educational support leave, options in the State of Georgia health and flexible benefits package, 401K & 457 options, a choice of two retirement systems dependent upon position: Teachers Retirement System of Georgia or the Employee’s Retirement System of Georgia.
