Qualifications

  • Three years of paid work experience in the Automation Technology field within the past seven years.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with classroom management ability.

  • Evaluates student progress and grades accordingly.
  • Prepares curriculum and syllabi for coursework.
  • Maintains student attendance and grade records.
  • Represents and supports recruitment and program efforts.

Job Description:

Automation Technology Adjunct Instructor/Evenings Part Time Whitfield Murray Campus

Job Summary:

Georgia Northwestern Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Automation Technology Adjunct Instructor/Evenings to be located on the Whitfield Murray County Campus and will be required to travel to other campuses to meet operational requirements. This position will report to Dean of Industrial Technologies. The Automation Technology Adjunct Instructor will advise students in the Automation Technology program and participate in institutional activities. This position requires an on-campus work environment presence and does not offer a telework option.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provides professional instruction based on approved course syllabus.
  • Ensures that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives;
  • Prepares curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught;
  • Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives;
  • Administers and grades class examinations;
  • Maintains records of student attendance and grades;
  • Attends in-service training, workshops and seminars, as needed;
  • Maintains program certification requirements;
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training areas;
  • Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts;
  • Meets with students, staff members, supervisors, as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or diploma in Automation Technology OR Industrial Systems Technology OR specialized/related training with an emphasis on demonstrated competencies and achievements Three (3) years’ paid work experience in the field within the past seven (7) years – Work experience must include the competencies, skills, and knowledge levels included in the Automation Technology instructional programs.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Excellent technology and classroom management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline State of Georgia Class II Electrical Contractor License Post-secondary teaching experience, curriculum development, and program recruitment experience in a two-year college environment Excellent technology and classroom management skills

Physical Demands:

Work is typically performed in a classroom or office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects to a light to medium weight. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes. If the job involves driving, physical requirements include the ability to operate a vehicle and sit for extended periods.
