Job summary

Würth Industry USA is seeking an Automation Technician in Roanoke, VA to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize automated systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role supports efficiency by ensuring systems operate reliably, safely, and in alignment with production goals. Candidates should have 2+ years in industrial automation and be comfortable with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, and robotics.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in automation or related field.
• 2+ years in industrial automation, maintenance, or controls systems.
• Experience with CMMS systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of networked industrial systems (Ethernet/IP, Modbus) is preferred.
• Certification in automation, controls, or maintenance preferred (ISA, Siemens, or Rockwell).
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and safety awareness.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, and robotics.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues to minimize downtime.
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential failures.
• Assist in programming, modifying, and debugging PLC and control systems.
• Support integration of new automation equipment into existing systems.
• Maintain and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve system efficiency, uptime, and safety.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Support the installation, startup, and commissioning of new automated systems and equipment.
• Validate system functionality and ensure proper calibration and configuration.
• Follow safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and work logs.
• Provide clear communication on system status and issues.
