Job summary

American Orthodontics is seeking a qualified technician to join our manufacturing team. You will integrate robotics, vision systems, PLCs into automated cells and build electrical panels.

You will work with maintenance staff to troubleshoot issues and create/update electrical schematics while implementing safety improvements on machines. Responsibilities include collaborating on functional specs for new equipment with engineers and vendors, driving continuous improvement, and supporting business

Qualifications

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Associate degree in electronics, electromechanical or controls related field.
  • 3 years of experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting; Omron experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with HMIs, motion drives, vision systems, and robotics.
  • PC-based systems networking knowledge.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate robotics, vision systems, part feeders, PLCs into automated production cells.
  • Layout and build electrical panels/equipment neatly.
  • Drive continuous improvement on existing automated equipment (upgrading controls, rewiring/replacing control panels, and integration of new equipment).
  • Partner with maintenance technicians to troubleshoot and correct equipment issues on the manufacturing floor
  • Create new electrical schematics and updated existing schematics as needed
  • Implement safety improvements to machines such as light curtains, interlocked guards, and ergonomic operator interface buttons
  • Provide input on functional specifications for new equipment builds with engineers and vendors
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives

  • High Level of proficiency with PC Based systems including networking systems
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
