Automation Control Technician
Summary:
- The Automation Control Technician will identify opportunities where automated systems will reduce labor, improve quality, and improve ergonomics and/or safety.
Job Responsibilities:
- Works with internal and external parties to organize the various components needed to initiate and launch projects and automation initiatives.
- Duties include coordinating schedules and activities, placing orders for equipment and services, and tracking progress and results.
- Interfaces with the Management Team to anticipate manufacturing requirements and methods. Researches, evaluates, and recommends production methods, resources, and equipment for new processes.
- Applies strong proven practical experience with PLCs, servomotors, robotics and sensors to improve automated production processes and reduce human interaction. Performs hands-on electrical, mechanical and automation troubleshooting, making adjustments to processes and/or machinery. Optimizes equipment/manufacturing processes to provide sustainable gains in product quality, process yield and efficiency.
- Troubleshoots electrical, PLC, and other industrial automation in a manufacturing environment.
- Designs, installs, programs, and commissions small size automation control systems.
Additional Duties:
- Documents time and materials by project for R&D history.
- Makes recommendations regarding automation equipment and fixtures to support manufacturing.
- Applies various preventive action tools such as error-proofing/poka-yoke, and analyzes their effectiveness as a means to improve product quality and manufacturability.
- Trains and supports maintenance team members on an ongoing basis on the understanding of automation and troubleshooting.
- Monitors and reacts in a timely manner to routine demand and maintenance requirements.
