Job summary

Havel is seeking a Controls & Automation Technician to install hardware design and software programming for Building Management Control Direct Digital Control Systems in South Bend. You will document processes and commission controllers while interfacing with owners, contractors, and subcontractors on-site.

The role requires an Associates degree with HVAC controls experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a technical Associates Degree with 1-2 years of field experience or 3 years of related HVAC experience.
• Hands-on experience in design and commissioning of digital HVAC controls systems.
• Strong communication skills for a non-technical audience.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Niagara AX certification preferred.
• Team player with reliable attendance and flexibility for extended hours/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Install hardware design and software programming to established standards.
• Communicate design and operation details to customers and subcontractors.
• Build graphics for control systems.
• Check out HVAC control systems and wiring.
• Load, verify, and commission system controllers.
• Document processes for Building Management Control Direct Digital Control systems.
• Provide site-specific training for owner/operators on total system.
• Develop long-term relationships with contractors and clients.
• Attend job progress meetings and adhere to safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Complete typical installation hardware design and software programming using established standards as required
• Provide detailed information to communicate design and operation to customers and subcontractors
• Responsible for graphics building
• Check out of HVAC control systems and wiring
• Complete the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers as required
• Document processes for the Building Management Control Direct Digital Control Systems
• Perform site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system in full of assistance
• Develop long-term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors
• Attend job progress meetings as required
• Adhere to safety standards
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, and climb ladders when needed
• Other duties assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum of a technical Associates Degree with 1-2 years of field experience or 3 years of equivalent related experience in the HVAC industry
• Must have relevant technical hands on systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC controls systems
• Strong customer and communication skills to a non-technical audience
• Must have experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Niagara AX certified preferred
• Must work in a team environment
• Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Compensation Range

$18.00 - $45.00 per hour
