Job summary

Johnson Matthey in Smithfield, PA is seeking an Automation Technician to support and maintain automation control systems within a manufacturing setting. You will troubleshoot PLC/HMI equipment, perform routine maintenance, and collaborate with maintenance staff to ensure safe and efficient production.

The role requires an Associate degree or related discipline, familiarity with Allen-Bradley systems, and strong problem-solving abilities. Hybrid/onsite work and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in a related discipline.
• Experience with PLCs, HMI/SCADA, and industrial automation in manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems including drives and power distribution.
• Familiarity with Allen-Bradley systems (ControlLogix, RSLogix 5000) is advantageous.
• Good communication and cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Support operation of automation control systems to maintain safe, reliable production.
• Troubleshoot control system and equipment issues with production and maintenance teams.
• Perform maintenance on automated electrical equipment including PLCs, HMIs and servo drives.
• Update control systems documentation and assist in program modifications.
• Collaborate with external vendors to diagnose complex automation issues.
