Job summary

Sterling Engineering in the United States is seeking an Automation Technician to maintain and improve automated manufacturing equipment in a production environment. This hands-on role focuses on mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment uptime.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in maintenance or automation, with knowledge of conveyors, motors, bearings, belts, chains, and pneumatics.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of maintenance, automation, or industrial equipment experience.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment and production machinery.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, conveyors, motors, bearings, belts, chains, and other mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting experience is helpful but this role is primarily mechanically focused.
  • PLC troubleshooting or programming experience is not required.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with a hands-on approach to equipment maintenance and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on automated manufacturing equipment and production machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components including conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, chains, and pneumatic systems.
  • Support automation equipment to ensure maximum uptime and production efficiency.
  • Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance activities to prevent unplanned downtime.
  • Replace worn or damaged mechanical components and complete equipment adjustments as needed.
  • Work closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to prioritize repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance data.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and maintenance procedures while supporting production operations.

Job description

Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM | Wednesday through Sunday (Wednesday is a 6-hour split shift)

Compensation: $25-$29/hr

Overview:

We are seeking an Automation Technician to support the maintenance and reliability of automated manufacturing equipment in a production environment. This is a hands-on role focused primarily on mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment uptime. The ideal candidate will have experience working with automated machinery and production equipment and be comfortable diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues to support continuous operations.

Job Duties:
