SII Group USA is seeking a skilled and hands‑on Automation Technician on behalf of a leading industrial/manufacturing client in Austin, TX.
This role is ideal for a technician with cross‑functional expertise in automation, PLCs, electrical, and mechanical systems, with strong capabilities in equipment setup, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, set up, and commission automated production equipment and systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving PLCs, electrical systems, mechanical components, and controls
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment
- Support PLC programming, debugging, and minor modifications
- Integrate and maintain machine vision systems (inspection, alignment, defect detection)
- Set up, teach, and troubleshoot robotic systems
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to improve uptime and efficiency
- Participate in continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering (or equivalent hands‑on experience)
- 2–5 years of experience in industrial automation or manufacturing environments
- Basic PLC programming and troubleshooting experience with:
- Experience with machine vision systems such as Cognex
- Familiarity with robotics systems, preferably Yamaha Robotics
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, sensors, actuators, and control panels
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high‑volume or advanced manufacturing (electronics, automotive, semiconductor, etc.)
- Hands‑on experience with servo systems, motion control, and VFDs
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, etc.)
- Exposure to HMI/SCADA systems
- Experience supporting or leading equipment commissioning projects
