Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and support custom automated manufacturing and inspection systems at the Lynchburg facility.

You will develop software using .NET or CVI on Windows, integrate with third-party hardware, write test plans, and assist with installation and maintenance in a team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science and 4 years' relevant

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or Computer Science with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Must be able to obtain DOE clearance and U.S. citizenship.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with teams of engineers (mechanical, electrical and software) and internal customers to design, build, maintain, and upgrade custom automated process control and data acquisition systems that support manufacturing, quality control, and other plant operations.
• Develop software applications for automated equipment/systems including motion control, data acquisition, databases interactions, and operator interfaces using .Net or CVI on Windows based platforms.
• Develop vision system and other post inspection analysis applications.
• Integrate applications/systems with third-party hardware and software.
• Generate and execute system and software test plans and develops user manuals for the system/machine.
• Support engineers and technicians in the assembly, installation, trouble-shooting, maintenance, and upgrade of new and existing systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
