Job summary

PMDautomation in the United States is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to research, plan, and design automated stations and test systems using SolidWorks and proven engineering practices.

You will work within design hour, schedule, and machine budget constraints, collaborate with vendors, and ensure designs meet customer requirements while maintaining safety. Travel up to 5% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years' experience in automation preferred.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of GD&T, EPDM and jig/fixture design.
• Occasionally travel up to 5%.

Responsibilities

• Researches and analyzes data such as customer request for quote and specifications to determine feasibility.
• Work within design hour constraints, schedule constraints, and overall machine budget constraints.
• Collaborate to ensure designs are cost effective and meet customer requirements.
• Develop/review concepts to confirm performance metrics (cycle time, uptime, CPK, Gage R&R).
• Design mechanisms and stations using 3D modeling software (SolidWorks).
• Obtain competitive quotes from vendors for major components.
• Create fabrication and assembly drawings; prepare BOMs for each design.
• Release designs to Project Management; support fabrication, assembly, and qualification.
• Occasionally act as Project Engineer on smaller projects; observe safety procedures.
