Job summary

3MD Inc. in Redmond, WA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to design mechanical assemblies and conveyance systems, develop 3D models and BOMs, and troubleshoot complex issues. You will support fabrication, FAT/SAT, and field installation for industrial equipment.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and 3–5 years of experience, with familiarity in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, Onshape) and PLM workflows. Strong documentation and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Onshape) modeling and drawing creation for mechanical systems.
• Ability to design and modify mechanical components, assemblies, and layouts.
• Ability to adapt to new tools, design methodologies, and manufacturing technologies.
• Familiarity with PDM/PLM (e.g., SolidWorks PDM, Windchill, Arena) tools and workflows is preferred.
• Familiarity with conveyors, pneumatics, or automation equipment is preferred.
• Solid troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Effective communication with operations, engineering teams, and customer contacts
• Ability to manage small and mid-sized mechanical work packages with limited supervision
• Strong documentation practices and attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Independently design mechanical assemblies, mechanisms, and equipment for small to mid-sized projects
• Develop 3D models, detailed drawings, and bills of material in accordance with company standards
• Conduct troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of mechanical failures or performance issues
• Support fabrication, assembly, FAT/SAT, and field integration of new or upgraded equipment
• Perform tolerance analysis, component sizing, and material selection
• Assist in defining project mechanical requirements, timelines, and technical scope
• Provide guidance and informal mentoring to Engineers and Technicians
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, mechanical codes, and engineering best practices
