Job summary

WEG Electric Corp. (USA) seeks a Mechanical & Automation Engineer to design, develop, implement and improve manufacturing equipment and automation systems.

You will work under senior engineers to support projects from concept through production, applying mechanical design, controls integration and process improvement. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2+ years of experience, with hands-on CAD (SolidWorks), PLC/HMI knowledge, and experience with conveyors,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing/automation projects.
• Experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks or similar).
• Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, sensors and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and support automation systems with mechanical components, PLCs, sensors, robotics, conveyors and pneumatic systems.
• Develop tooling, fixtures, and automated equipment using CAD software.
• Participate in automation projects from concept through installation, commissioning, validation and production support.
• Assist in evaluating automation opportunities by preparing technical studies, equipment comparisons, cost analyses and ROI calculations.
• Support equipment troubleshooting and root cause investigations involving mechanical and automation systems.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Production and Safety departments to implement process improvements.
• Assist with vendor coordination, equipment specifications, FAT/SAT activities and equipment acceptance.
• Prepare engineering documentation including drawings, work instructions, technical reports, equipment specifications and project documentation.
• Ensure equipment complies with safety standards and applicable engineering best practices.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, ergonomics and cost reduction.
• Stay current with emerging manufacturing technologies and participate in technical training and industry events as appropriate.
