Job summary
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) in Palmdale, CA, Center of Excellence, is seeking an Advanced Automation Manufacturing Engineer or Advanced Automation Principal Manufacturing Engineer. The role supports the manufacturing engineering team, driving advanced technology implementations to improve efficiency, cost, and quality on production lines.
The candidate will guide design-for-manufacturing, participate in tool-design reviews, and define sequences of operations for production builds
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master’s in a relevant field with production assembly/fabrication experience
- Experience supporting manufacturing operations and understanding processes
- Experience in machining, robotics, or NC programming
- Experience in composites, automation, heating systems or coatings application
- Experience creating work instructions and training materials
- Experience reviewing blueprints and 3-D models
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Responsibilities
- Guide engineering on design concepts to optimize manufacturability
- Participate in tool design reviews to reduce build times and costs
- Define operation sequences, investigate issues, and implement corrective actions for producibility and affordability
- Develop and transition new manufacturing technology solutions to improve efficiency and quality
- Interface with internal/external customers and multiple teams to manage multiple projects
