Job summary

Lear For You at the Orion Plant in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking an Automation Repair Technician to install, repair, and maintain automated production equipment and control systems. You will support manufacturing operations, minimize downtime, and collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve reliability and efficiency.

The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and supporting changeovers and upgrades while upholding strong safety practices and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair automation, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system failures.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robots, servo motors, VFDs, sensors, and automated production equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Install, configure, and test automation equipment and machine control systems.
• Knowledge of PLCs and automated control systems.
• Knowledge of industrial safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Proficient with computer and Microsoft Office programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance per schedules and standards.
• Analyze equipment performance and identify root causes of issues.
• Support equipment startups, changeovers, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to resolve equipment-related issues.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair logs, and work order documentation.
• Assist with development and implementation of process improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair situations as needed.
• Foster a culture of safety awareness through proper maintenance processes and actions.
