Job summary

Safariland is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to oversee operational improvement and optimization for armor manufacturing. You will support manufacturing, implement process improvements, drive automation, and develop strategies to improve efficiency, delivery, safety, quality, throughput, and cost performance.

You will collaborate with the Duty Gear Team to drive lean manufacturing, automationProjects, and continuous improvement while applying Lean Six Sigma and 5S methods.

Qualifications

• Two to five years in manufacturing/automation engineering.
• Experience with cobots, robotics, sensors, and automated material handling.
• Experience supporting automation equipment selection and ROI justification.
• Basic understanding of PLCs, HMIs, and electrical schematics.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
• SolidWorks proficiency is required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Focus Factory Manager(s) to optimize efficiency, delivery, and quality.
• Lead or support cost reduction initiatives in production.
• Drive continuous improvement projects and change control.
• Support design-for-manufacturing and process improvements.
• Prepare documentation, test results, and ISO documentation.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement countermeasures.
• Conduct time studies for new and existing products.
• Participate in automation initiatives and evaluate ROI.
• Identify automation opportunities including robotics and vision systems.
• Partner with Maintenance, Operations, Quality, EHS, IT, vendors, and integrators to install and sustain automated equipment.
