Job summary
Safariland in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead operational improvements in armor manufacturing. You will provide technical support, implement process improvements, support automation, and drive efficiency, safety, quality, and cost performance.
You will collaborate with Focus Factory Managers, lead or support lean initiatives, perform time studies, use SolidWorks, and develop value stream maps.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years in manufacturing engineering or automation projects.
- Experience with cobots, robotics, vision systems, and automated material handling.
- Experience with automation equipment selection, ROI and ramp-up.
- Understanding of PLCs, HMIs, electrical schematics, and troubleshooting.
- Proficient with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
- Strong SolidWorks proficiency.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Focus Factory Managers to improve efficiency, delivery, and quality.
- Lead cost reduction and continuous improvement projects.
- Support design-for-manufacturing and production process improvements.
- Prepare documentation, test results, and ISO documentation.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement countermeasures.
- Identify automation opportunities including robotics and vision systems.
- Partner with maintenance, operations, quality, EHS, IT, vendors for automation projects.
- Analyze downtime, OEE, cycle time, scrap, and quality metrics.
