Job summary

CB Partners, LLC is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to design, implement, and optimize automated manufacturing systems on the production floor. You will identify opportunities to replace manual processes with robotics, cobots, vision systems, and automated handling, and lead projects from concept to startup.

You will collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to deliver successful automation solutions, troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and motion control, and drive digital manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience implementing automation projects in manufacturing.
  • Experience with PLC programming.
  • Experience with industrial robots and/or cobots.
  • Experience with machine vision systems.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong project management, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to use production data to drive decisions.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, waste reduction, process optimization, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize automated manufacturing systems.
  • Identify opportunities to replace manual processes with robotics, cobots, vision systems, automated material handling, and machine integration.
  • Lead automation projects from concept through installation, validation, and production startup.
  • Partner with equipment suppliers, automation integrators, and internal stakeholders to deliver successful projects.
  • Support troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, motion control, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and automation equipment.
  • Support the transition toward digital manufacturing and machine connectivity.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes, cycle times, downtime, scrap, and labor utilization to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop equipment specifications, obtain vendor quotations, and manage equipment procurement.
  • Develop business cases, capital expenditure requests, project justifications, and ROI analyses.
  • Support the introduction of new manufacturing technologies, equipment, and processes.
  • Train operators and technicians on automated equipment.
  • Develop work instructions, troubleshooting guides, maintenance documentation, and other technical documentation.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to production operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and waste-reduction principles.
  • Analyze production data, identify trends, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining project schedules and budgets.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound technical judgment.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3–5+ years of experience implementing automation projects in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with PLC programming.

  • Experience with industrial robots and/or cobots.

  • Experience with machine vision systems.

  • Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong project management, organization, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to use production data to drive decisions.

  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, waste reduction, process optimization, and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on manufacturing position with approximately 50% of the time spent on the production floor and 50% in an office environment.


The role requires the ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, squat, twist, and bend, as well as lift up to 50 pounds.
